Referring Students to Wellness Services

Wake Tech faculty and staff play an important role by observing and listening to students and helping them access Wellness Services when they are struggling. Counselors are available to help if you are unsure about what a student needs.

Counselors can provide outreach programming and classroom presentations for students. You may request consultations about issues affecting your students, available services and the referral process.

Faculty and staff referral guide

To refer a student to Wellness Services, submit an online referral form. You will be notified when it has been received. Depending on the relationship you have established with a student, you can discuss your concerns and let the student know you would like to refer them for services.

Wellness Services cannot share additional information unless the student has provided written consent. You may wish to ask the student directly about the referral.

If a student has made any kind of suicide attempt or gesture, has threatened suicide or is violent or physically destructive, contact College Police immediately at 919-866-5911. You also can contact the Behavioral Intervention Team if you notice concerning behavior.
