Drug Testing Requirements

Wake Tech places students in local clinical settings for curriculum Health Sciences programs requiring clinical experience. Many of these sites require students to undergo drug testing (urine drug screening). Wake Tech uses an outside vendor for these drug tests.

While not all sites require drug testing, students who have been conditionally accepted into the clinical portion of the CT, Electroneurodiagnostic Technology, EMS, Mammography, Medical Assisting, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Sonography, MRI, Nursing, Pharmacy, Phlebotomy, and Radiography programs are required to undergo testing, at their own expense. The current drug test panel costs $44 and is subject to change.

Students will be given more information and written instruction forms for drug testing by the Clinical Compliance Administrator after they have been conditionally accepted into the clinical portion of their program of study.

Positive or “flagged” drug tests are not accepted and will result in the student’s dismissal from the program. Student has the opportunity to take a new drug test when student is conditionally accepted during the next admission cycle for the program.
