Wake Tech leaders today honored Robert “Deke” DeCatsye as the first inductee in the college’s new Criminal Justice Wall of Fame. DeCatsye is well-known and well-respected among law enforcement professionals and agencies throughout the Triangle.

 The Board of Trustees of Wake Technical Community College is pleased to welcome two new members to its ranks. David Robinson, appointed by Governor Pat McCrory, and Phil Zachary, appointed by the Wake County Board of Commissioners, were sworn in Tuesday, August 20, as the newest trustees on Wake Tech’s 12-member board.

Wake Tech leaders joined U.S. Senator Kay Hagan today for a tour of the Pergo manufacturing plant in Garner. Wake Tech will soon launch a customized employee training program for Pergo, a global leader in laminate flooring.

Lynn Kavcsak, an instructor and program director at Wake Tech for the past 10 years, has been named Associate Dean of Career and Employment Resources Services for the college. In her new role, she’ll help curriculum students with career development and employment resources to prepare them for jobs in the local and global workplace.

Wake Tech Names Dean of Business and Industry Services

Dr. Stephen Scott, president of Wake Tech Community College, has named Tim Lucas the new Dean of Business and Industry Services at the college’s Western Wake Campus, in Cary. In his new role, Lucas will use his 25 years of management and leadership experience in business and industry to serve current clients and to identify new and expanding businesses that can benefit from the services Wake Tech offers.

Wake Tech to Help Medical Offices Brace for Impending Coding Change

The countdown is on: Medical practices and other healthcare providers have until next October to get staff trained and ready for a major administrative change. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will require all providers to switch from the ICD-9 medical coding system, a standard for three decades, to ICD-10 CM/PCS, starting in October 2014.
