Wake Tech Names Associate Dean of Career and Employment Resources Service

RALEIGH, N.C. (August 12, 2013) - Lynn Kavcsak, an instructor and program director at Wake Tech for the past 10 years, has been named Associate Dean of Career and Employment Resources Services for the college. In her new role, she’ll help curriculum students with career development and employment resources to prepare them for jobs in the local and global workplace.

“Career readiness is critical for today’s graduates,” says Wake Tech President Dr. Stephen C. Scott, “and Lynn understands this better than anyone. She has worked tirelessly to connect students to opportunities for career success and will continue to lead the way in this fitting new role.”

Kavcsak will continue to work with faculty members as well as local and regional employers to foster meaningful connections between the classroom and workplace. “The division will expand to provide students with career development opportunities earlier on in their trajectories,” says Kavcsak. “Ultimately we want to embed career awareness and readiness from the beginning of students’ programs of study.”

Kavcsak started at Wake Tech in 2003 and most recently served as Director of Human Resources Development. She developed and administered HRD training to help the unemployed and underemployed build workplace competencies and job search skills. Kavcsak also collaborated with Capital Area Workforce Development to research career trends and industry needs and subsequent curriculum design.

Kavcsak holds a B.A. from the University of Minnesota with a double major in International Relations and Spanish and Portuguese; an Undergraduate Certificate in Gerontology from Saddleback Community College in Mission Viejo, California; an M.S. in Hospitality and Tourism from the University of Wisconsin-Stout; and an M.Ed. and a Graduate Certificate in Community College Teaching from North Carolina State University. She is a member of the HRD State Advisory Board and the Capital Area Workforce Development Board’s Joblink Board. Kavcsak lives in Raleigh.
