The college is closed December 21 through January 1 for winter break and will reopen January 2. Prospective students can still apply for enrollment online during the break, and continuing students can register for Spring semester classes.
Wellness counselors use a brief, solution-focused model of counseling. Some problems may be resolved in one to six sessions. Wake Tech doesn't offer intensive psychotherapy or case management services. Students needing those services will be referred to other professionals or agencies on or off campus.
Confidential sessions for students who have personal, social concerns or are experiencing distress. You talk, we listen, no judgment. You do not need a diagnosis to meet with us. We can help you build coping skills and work through problems.
You will meet with a counselor in a private office or in a virtual session for 30 to 45 minutes. You will complete a brief intake and discuss concerns and goals. The counselor will determine what resources are appropriate and, if needed, schedule additional sessions.
We understand there may be a wait time for an appointment. If you need to speak with a counselor immediately or outside of business hours, please contact the Student Assistance Program, available 24/7 at 704-529-1428 or 800-633-3353. The contact is confidential.
Group counseling is currently unavailable. Students who are interested in forming a group may contact [email protected].
Counseling sessions are strictly confidential, in accordance with North Carolina law and the professional standards and ethics under which counselors practice. Counseling files are not part of academic records.
Confidential information is not shared outside of Wake Tech except in the following circumstances:
