Frequently Asked Questions

No. The placement test does not determine whether you can attend Wake Tech; it lets us know your skill levels. The test determines whether you will start with college-level credit courses or be required to complete any prerequisite courses before starting college-level credit courses.

Testing at another college or university may be possible. Please check with the North Carolina community college where you wish to test to see if they will allow you to take the test at their location.

Yes. Applicants may opt to take the placement test if they are being admitted with less than a 2.8 GPA and have no additional placement measures.

Retesting is permitted only when there is evidence of extenuating circumstances during initial testing or when the scores do not seem indicative of the student's current skill level. Students wishing to retest must get permission to retest from an advisor, and they are not allowed to test more than two times in one year.
