Magnetic Resonance Imaging

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) diploma prepares students to visualize cross-sectional anatomical structures and aid physicians in the demonstration of pathologies and disease processes. Coursework, including academic and clinic studies, prepares the technologist to do the following:

• Provide patient care
• Perform studies using specialized imaging equipment
• Communicate professionally
• Provide quality assurance in scheduled and emergency procedures

NOTE: Students applying for this diploma must be registered – or registry-eligible – as radiologic technologists, nuclear medicine technologists, sonographers or radiation therapists by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

If you're ready to get started at Wake Tech, follow these steps:

• Apply for admission
• Submit high school, high school equivalency and any college transcripts electronically to [email protected].
• Apply for financial aid and veterans benefits, if applicable
• Activate your Wake Tech student account
• Complete the Online Learning Readiness Assessment to be eligible to enroll in online courses

Acceptance into the MRI program is a first-come, first-served process until the enrollment cap is reached. Once classes are filled, additional applicants will be placed on a waiting list and offered seats if they become available.

To be eligible to begin MRI classes, the following must be completed:

• Submit the MRI program application by the February 15 application deadline.
• Include the following documentation with the program application:
  • A copy of current ARRT card or a letter from the department head of the imaging program in which you are currently enrolled, verifying that you are in good academic standing. You must be in at least the fourth semester of a five-semester program and must show evidence of ARRT registration within one month of the start date of the MRI program.
  • A copy of a current CPR card. CPR card must be current during the program.
