Wake Tech offers English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes for students pursuing a curriculum degree, diploma or certificate. EFL applicants may need to take an untimed, computer-based placement test. The test measures multiple levels of English proficiency and is used to place students in the appropriate EFL courses to maximize their potential for academic success.
Before requesting to take the placement test, students must apply for admission to Wake Tech.
The placement test consists of two areas: Reading Skills and Language Use. After testing, students will be referred to the EFL Advising Center, where a writing sample and an in-person interview will be conducted.
To prepare for the test, students can view sample questions from the ACCUPLACER English as a Second Language Tests test prep guide.

NOTE: Prospective students who want to take English as a Second Language (ESL) classes do not need to take the placement test for EFL. See the ESL webpage for more information about that program.
