Description
This course covers the objectives outlined by the American Heart Association for Heartsaver First Aid and enables students to meet AHA criteria for first aid delivery. Heartsaver First Aid is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs first aid training and a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements. This course can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared to act in an emergency.
Course Objectives
  1. Recognize situations and provide assistance to a victim where first aid skills may be needed.
  2. Recognize situations and provide assistance to a victim where First Aid Basics skills may be needed
  3. Recognize situations and provide assistance to a victim where Medical Emergencies skills may be needed
  4. Recognize situations and provide assistance to a victim where Injury/Traumatic emergencies skills may be needed
  5. Recognize situations and provide assistance to a victim where Environmental emergencies skills may be needed

Certification Learning Outcomes/Requirements
  1. Heartsaver® First Aid is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.

    Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies.
