A graphic designer communicates ideas and information through visual concepts. Primarily using industry-standard design software, they create compelling visuals that inspire, engage, motivate and captivate specific target audiences.

They are trained to develop design solutions and prepare files for posters, print and online advertisements, business collateral, marketing materials, websites and corporate logos and symbols for print or digital delivery.

The AAS degree and all certificates can be completed 100% online. Courses also are offered in person at Southern Wake Campus. Students can take a combination of both formats to best fit their schedules.

There also may be opportunities for graduates to seek part-time work or contract work as freelance designers.
Graphic Design graduates can transfer to Montreat College, Elizabeth City State University or Queens University in Charlotte to complete a bachelor's degree.
