The Mammography Certificate provides radiography students and registered radiologic technologists the knowledge and clinical experience needed to become registered mammographers.
Course work includes breast anatomy/physiology, patient preparation/education, mammographic procedures, interventional procedures, image analysis, mammographic instrumentation, physics, quality control and quality assurance, and clinical rotations to area imaging facilities.
Most of the classroom work is offered online, and students gain lab experiences using a state-of-the-art 3D mammography system.
Graduates will meet the Mammography Quality Standards Act initial training requirements for mammography and may be eligible to apply to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) post-primary certification in mammography. Once registered, students will be able to perform mammograms in hospitals and imaging facilities.
