Wake Tech is closed December 24 through January 4 for winter break and will reopen January 5. Prospective students can still apply for enrollment online during the break, and continuing students can register for Spring semester classes, which start January 7.
The Architectural Technology program prepares individuals to assist architects, engineers and construction professionals in developing plans and related documents for residential and commercial projects. This includes instruction in architectural drafting, computer-assisted drafting, construction materials and methods, environmental systems, codes and standards, structural principles, cost estimation and planning.
Students learn architectural illustration skills in hand drafting and digital software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop and rendering software, along with architectural graphics and presentation skills.

The department is a member of the Coalition of Community College Architecture Programs. Also, students can participate in the college's American Institute of Architecture Students chapter (AIAS Wake Tech).

Students can apply for scholarships offered by several industry partners and organizations:
Employment opportunities are available in roles such as junior technician, Level I architectural designer, landscape design technician, MEP design technician and BIM designer or technician. These positions can be found within architectural firms, engineering companies and contracting businesses.
