The college is closed December 21 through January 1 for winter break and will reopen January 2. Prospective students can still apply for enrollment online during the break, and continuing students can register for Spring semester classes.
The Dental Assisting Diploma covers general studies, biomedical sciences, dental sciences, clinical sciences and clinical practice. A combination of lecture, laboratory and clinical experiences provide the students with knowledge in infection and hazard control, radiography, dental materials, preventive dentistry and clinical procedures.
Students receive hands-on patient care clinical experience with rotations at the following:
Wake Tech's program is accredited by the American Dental Association. Graduates are classified as Dental Assistant II (DA II) by the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners. A DAII, as defined by the Dental Laws of North Carolina, can perform identified expanded functions, including coronal polishing.
Students are eligible to take the Dental Assisting National Board Exam in order to be classified as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA).
