Neurodiagnostic Technology AAS

Wake Tech Course ID: A45320

The Neurodiagnostic Technology AAS Degree provides the knowledge and skills needed to record and study the electrical activity of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and somatosensory, or motor nerve, systems using various techniques and instruments.

Course work includes the following:

  • Developing communication skills with patients and health care personnel
  • Documenting patients' histories and clinical status
  • EEG
  • Electrode application
  • Understanding electrical waveform recognition
  • Managing medical emergencies
  • Preparing descriptive reports for physicians

Graduates qualify for the American Board of Registration of EEG/EP Technologists (ABRET) exam and, working under the supervision of a qualified physician, may be employed by hospitals or a neurologist's or neurosurgeon's private practice.
