RALEIGH, N.C. (October 14, 2019) - Wake Tech’s Perry Health Sciences Campus changed colors today to highlight breast cancer awareness. The “Perry Goes Pink” event honored all those who have battled the disease – and introduced a new Wake Tech program for mammography technologists.
The Mammography Technology program is a two-semester certificate program that will be offered at the Perry Health Sciences Campus. It is designed for radiography students and technologists who are registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Most of the coursework is online; students will gain lab experience using a state-of-the art 3D mammography system, and clinical rotations will take place at local imaging facilities.
The “Perry Goes Pink” educational event included the AmeriBreasts® display, a 12-foot-tall, three-dimensional walk-through exhibit with an emphasis on breast care and cancer prevention. The display identifies parts of the human breast and highlights the differences between cancerous and healthy breast tissue. Members of Wake Tech’s Student Government Association (SGA) also handed out prevention information, t-shirts, cupcakes, and pink candy.
