RALEIGH, N.C. (July 22, 2015) - Graduating students with dreams of creating the Next Big Thing in video games showed off their original game designs tonight at Wake Tech. The games, with names like Witch Hunt, Parallactic Destiny, and Guardian of the Styx, are final projects for students in Wake Tech’s two-year associate’s degree program in Simulation and Game Development. They worked in teams to create the games for the annual Student Showcase, held on Main Campus. Representatives from several of the Triangle’s 40+ video game companies were on hand, including Epic Games, Insomniac Games, Ubisoft, and Red Storm Entertainment.
“The showcase is a great opportunity for students to show off their skills and network with industry reps,” says Instructor Ken Turner. “Local companies attend to talk with students and view their games – they’re on the lookout for new talent.”
The students used Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) and unity software in their projects. Wake Tech is a major sponsor of the East Coast Game Conference in Raleigh each year, which draws thousands of game developers and enthusiasts from around the world.
