Wake Tech offers third and final tour of Cuba
RALEIGH, N.C. (September 23, 2015) - Wake Tech is offering one final educational tour of the island nation of Cuba. The college has teamed up with Explorica, a Boston-based company, to offer students an eight-day international learning experience. The trip will begin on March 18, 2016 and will include an exploration of Old Havana; visits with local musicians; the delights of Cuban cuisine; and excursions to a health clinic, private library, and the Cuban Nation Circus School. Wake Tech students, faculty, and staff – as well as their friends, families, and the community – are welcome to participate. “International exchanges are a wonderful way to experience other cultures and prepare students for success in a global economy,” says Wake Tech instructor and tour organizer Jeff Myers. “With all the recent changes between the two governments, this is a great time to visit communist Cuba and learn about its history, its government, its economy and the arts.” U.S. citizens are allowed to travel to Cuba if they are engaging in activities such -as professional research, participating in an athletic event, performing in a concert, working on a humanitarian project or taking part in educational activities. Americans are still not allowed to visit Cuba for the purposes of tourism. Wake Tech has a number of educational excursions planned. The college will take a group of students to Paris, Milan, and Rome; Central European cities and Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
