The college is closed December 21 through January 1 for winter break and will reopen January 2. Prospective students can still apply for enrollment online during the break, and continuing students can register for Spring semester classes.
Careers in the construction industry need employees at all skill levels. To get started, new employees should have training in on-the-job safety, basic blueprint reading, an understanding of hand and power tools and strong skills in measurement and basic math. Careers in residential and commercial construction are available.

Students involved in this course will complete the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Core Curriculum, the 10-Hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Course in Construction Safety, the American Heart Association (AHA) Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification course, and the AHA First Aid course. Students will also learn the basics of construction math, construction drawings, basic rigging, communication skills, employability skills, the use and care of hand and power tools, and the basics of material handling. The NCCER Core Curriculum is a prerequisite for all Apprenticeship Courses from the NCCER. Students who attend this class will gain the skills and certifications necessary to obtain work with contracting companies as entry-level employees. These students can expect to work at new construction sites and in existing buildings where remodeling or renovation projects are taking place.

Careful – flying a drone can get you into legal trouble if you don't know the rules. But once you know them, there’s money to be made! The FAA now requires all commercial drone pilots to pass a certification test to pilot a UAS (Unmanned Aerial System). This course prepares you for that test with classroom instruction and instructor feedback.

Learn the basics of framing by building a storage shed. Students will learn to have a solid grasp of common residential framing practices. In addition, students will be able to layout and construct floor systems, walls and ceilings, install windows and exterior doors, install sheathing on walls and roofs, and install house wrap.

Per the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS), licensed commercial and private pesticide applicators must realize continuing education credit requirements to maintain their workforce eligibility.
This training program will provide state licensed pesticide applicators with instruction relating to Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in fulfillment of NCDA&CS continuing education mandates.
