College Announces New Career Choice Partnership with Amazon
Career Choice Program provides access to higher education for Amazon employees
RALEIGH, N.C. (March 3, 2022) – Wake Tech is proud to be an education partner for Amazon’s Career Choice program, providing access to associate degrees and industry certifications for Amazon hourly employees.
Amazon’s Career Choice program is an education benefit that empowers Amazon employees to learn new skills for career success at Amazon or elsewhere. Amazon provides a variety of education and upskilling opportunities, including full college tuition, industry certifications for in-demand jobs and such foundational skills as English language proficiency, high school diplomas and GEDs.
Wake Tech currently partners with Amazon to provide coursework in any credit-bearing course that leads to an associate degree or certificate.
Amazon recently announced several enhancements to the program that took effect in January, including a wider variety of educational options, pre-payment of fully funded tuition and employee eligibility after just 90 days of continuous Amazon employment.
In the U.S., Amazon is investing $1.2 billion to upskill more than 300,000 employees by 2025 to help move them into higher-paying, in-demand jobs. More than 50,000 employees across the country have participated in Career Choice since the program started in 2012.
“Our mission at Wake Tech is to provide equitable access to education that transforms lives through economic mobility and personal fulfillment,” said Wake Tech President Dr. Scott Ralls. “As an Amazon Career Choice education partner, we’re committed to providing high-quality, specialized education for Amazon employees seeking upward mobility in their careers.”
