RALEIGH, N.C. (November 10, 2021) - Wake Tech celebrated all those who served today with a Veterans Day observance at Southern Wake Campus.
Wake Tech President Dr. Scott Ralls recognized students, staff, and community members who serve or have served in the United States military.
“We honor our veterans not just on Veterans Day but every day,” said Wake Tech President Dr. Scott Ralls. “It is a great privilege to serve our veterans at Wake Tech after they have served for us.”
Martin Falls, NC Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Deputy Secretary, was the keynote speaker and reflected on the tremendous sacrifice of service men and women.
“We honor all of those living and dead who sacrificed for our freedom and defended the liberties and rights we hold dear as Americans,” Falls said.
Karee White, a Hidden Heroes Ambassador, presented Governor Roy Cooper’s “Veteran Friendly State” proclamation, which shows a commitment to support veterans as they seek employment, medical care, educational opportunities, recreational opportunities, and other resources.
The Elizabeth Dole Foundation, AARP, and nearly a dozen veteran organizations collaborated on this effort to gain this important commitment for the veterans of North Carolina.
The 82nd Airborne Division Brass Quintet performed the “The Star-Spangled Banner” and the Armed Forces Medley, a collection of the official songs of the six services of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Wake Tech is also participating in “Green Light a Vet,” a national campaign to highlight support for veterans by changing one light to green. The campaign will be featured on Wake Tech’s Scott Northern Wake, Southern Wake and RTP campuses.
Wake Tech is proud to be a Military Friendly® Gold Award institution, a designation earned for services and programs the college offers veterans and their family members pursuing education, training, and professional development: accelerated training programs, assistance with VA benefits and financial aid, and options for translating military experience into workplace credentials.
