Adjunct/Temporary Faculty Position Description

Adjunct faculty provide effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis:

  • Prepare instruction that reflects appropriate learning objectives
  • Use formative and summative assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
  • Construct classroom materials that support the goals of the course
  • Prepare thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Instruct and guide the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Design curriculum and a schedule of instruction
  • Maintain communication with course committee instructors and participate in instructional discussions
  • Use course materials such as Blackboard, Moodle, WebAssign, MS Office, Course Compass and internet applications effectively
  • Remain up to date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
  • Maintain accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Grade and return student work in a timely manner
  • Counsel students regarding their grades and progress in the course
  • Attend professional development opportunities to equal 6 hours per semester
  • Support the department, division and college goals, providing requested data in a timely manner
