Adjunct/Temporary Faculty Position Description
Adjunct faculty provide effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis:
- Prepare instruction that reflects appropriate learning objectives
- Use formative and summative assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
- Construct classroom materials that support the goals of the course
- Prepare thoroughly for each instructional hour
- Instruct and guide the class in an efficient and effective manner
- Design curriculum and a schedule of instruction
- Maintain communication with course committee instructors and participate in instructional discussions
- Use course materials such as Blackboard, Moodle, WebAssign, MS Office, Course Compass and internet applications effectively
- Remain up to date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
- Maintain accurate records of student work and attendance
- Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment
- Grade and return student work in a timely manner
- Counsel students regarding their grades and progress in the course
- Attend professional development opportunities to equal 6 hours per semester
- Support the department, division and college goals, providing requested data in a timely manner
