Preparing for a Site Visit
Implementing Finish First NC (FFNC) at your institution begins with a site visit with FFNC project staff and interested leaders from your college. The visit should include individuals from a variety of pertinent areas in your institution. Scroll down to the section "Before the Site Visit" to download a checklist to help you prepare.
NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all FFNC site visits are being conducted virtually for the foreseeable future.
What to expect during a virtual site visit
During the visit, the FFNC team will:
- Share a presentation about Finish First NC
- Conduct a live demo of the software with your school’s data
- Discuss the potential impacts on school practices, policies, and procedures surrounding academic advising and graduation
- Provide an opportunity for Q&A
Who should attend?
We highly encourage you to invite representatives from pertinent areas of the college to attend the presentation. Our visits with other colleges have included those from:
- Instruction
- Student Services
- Registration

If you need help garnering support for your college’s adoption of Finish First NC, download this email/letter to send to your college’s leadership team for their consideration.
Before the site visit
Prior to the site visit, FFNC project staff will connect with the main point-of-contact at your institution to gather files needed to build your FFNC database, coordinate dates for the site visit and set up a test run of the software. A test run is conducted to reduce the possibility of errors and to ensure that individuals from your institution are able to run the program immediately after the site visit.
FFNC project staff will walk you through how to pull the necessary data from Datatel/Colleague so we can begin customizing your school’s data tool.
To help you prepare for your site visit, download the FFNC Pre- and Post-Site Visit Checklist.
