Auto enthusiasts won’t want to miss Wake Tech’s Auto & Bike Show on Saturday, May 18, at Northern Wake Campus. The show will feature exotic and luxury vehicles on display, contests and prizes, food vendors, music, and auto detailing demonstrations. It will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free.
“Today is a time of celebration and a time of looking forward.” Those were the words of Wake Tech Community College President Dr. Stephen Scott as he spoke to graduates at the Spring 2013 Commencement Exercises. More than 1,400 students received degrees and diplomas today; of those, about 800 participated in four separate ceremonies on Main Campus.
Wake Tech Community College students showcased their skills at Phi Beta Lambda’s State Leadership Conference. They won 25 awards, including eight first and second place awards. Several Wake Tech students took home multiple awards.
Wake Tech Community College today became the first community college in North Carolina – and one of the first in the country – to launch a Massive Open Online Course, or MOOC. The MOOC format is intended for large-scale participation and offers open access to higher education via the web.
Wake Tech commemorated its 50thanniversary with the college’s annual Culinary Arts Showcase. The event attracted more than 2,000 people to the Raleigh Convention Center. For Wake Tech students Melanie Gilkey and Thabata Bailer, it was a moment in the spotlight.
Wake Technical Community College President Stephen Scott recognized 14 employees and four community partners for their dedication to the mission and vision of Wake Tech. The awards are sponsored annually by the Wake Tech Foundation, which receives and administers private sector funds for programs at the College. US Foodservice sponsored the awards dinner at the Raleigh Convention Center.

The SunTrust Center for Financial Education at Wake Tech is celebrating the success of its inaugural campaign to improve financial literacy. Today’s celebration, in the Student Services Building on Wake Tech’s main campus, included students, college faculty and administrators, and the community.
