Math Students Excel In National Competition

Wake Tech students “crunched the numbers” successfully to excel in the national Student Math League (SML) competition, sponsored by the American Mathematics Association of Two Year Colleges (AMATYC). Students from 35 states and Bermuda, in courses from pre-calculus through top-level calculus, participated.

Wake Tech Holds Spring GED and Adult High School Graduation

Excited graduates celebrated a long-deferred graduation Monday night, as Wake Tech Community College held its spring GED® and Adult High School graduation ceremony.  More than 200 students earned credentials, and 72 participated in the event on Wake Tech’s main campus.

More than 1,400 Wake Tech students have reason to celebrate! The college held commencement exercises at the Raleigh Convention Center on Saturday, May 3, and awarded degrees and diplomas to an impressive array of proud graduates.

Students from Wake Tech Community College won 13 awards at the annual Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference, showcasing their talent with four first place and two second place awards. Several students took home multiple awards.

Northern Wake Campus Expands

Wake Tech broke ground today on the first of four new instructional buildings at the Northern Wake Campus. Due to the threat of rain, the ceremony took place indoors, complete with shovels and sand! Elected officials, business leaders and educators participated in the ceremony to mark the start of projects that will be constructed with funds from Wake County’s 2012 bond referendum, which passed by an overwhelming 73%.

Duke Energy Announces $250,000 In Support for Critical Wake Tech Programs

Duke Energy has announced its support for Wake Tech’s new initiative aimed at training a “mission-critical” workforce – preparing workers to handle the structures and systems that keep business operations running. Wake Tech President Dr. Stephen Scott was presented with a check for $250,000 today by the Duke Energy Foundation.

Joshua Mellette Named NJCAA All American

Wake Tech star forward Joshua Mellette has been recognized as a first team pick for the NJCAA DII men’s basketball team All American Award. The 6’ 5” sophomore, ranked first in the Region X Conference for blocks and rebounds per game, was named the Region X Player of the Year.

Wake Technical Community College is celebrating an unprecedented show of community support – more than $17.5 million! That’s how much the Wake Tech Foundation has raised over the past two years, through its first-ever major gifts campaign, “The Ripple Effect.” The grand total exceeds the campaign’s goal of $12.5 million and includes an anonymous seven-figure gift, the largest single cash gift in college history.
