Current and future college students who need extra help in chemistry can now take a free online Wake Tech course called a MOOC – a Massive Open Online Course. Chemistry Concepts (CheMOOC) is Wake Tech's second MOOC, which invites large-scale participation and provides open access to higher education via the web.
Wake Tech nursing professor and clinical coordinator Linda Tyler has been selected as one of the Great 100 Nurses of North Carolina for 2014! Tyler was chosen by The Great 100, Inc., an organization recognizing nursing excellence and providing scholarships to students across the state.
The Wake Tech Board of Trustees has a new leader: Harvey Montague, the longest-serving member of the board, has been named its new chairman. Montague joined the board in 1996 and has served as Vice Chair since 2008. He succeeds Jim Perry.
Chrono Tear … Sledge … Sock-It: One of these could be the next big thing in video games! Designed by students in Wake Tech’s Simulation and Game Development program, the games were presented at the annual Student Showcase on Main Campus tonight.
Wake Tech students took home top honors after an excellent showing at Phi Beta Lambda’s National Leadership Conference competition, held June 24-27 in Nashville, Tennessee. Phi Beta Lambda is the national student academic organization for business and leadership.

A new Wake Tech initiative to engage employees in creative, collaborative problem-solving has won the 2014 Innovation of the Year Award from the League for Innovation. Wake Tech’s well-known, state-of-the-art Health Sciences Campus, adjacent to WakeMed in Raleigh, has a new name: Today, college officials dedicated the Perry Health Sciences Campus to honor Jim Perry, Chair of Wake Tech’s Board of Trustees, and his wife, Becky.
Wake Tech Community College now offers students and the community a powerful new resource for exploring potential careers. The college has launched Career Coach, a free online service that allows students and other visitors to Wake Tech’s website to research various careers and their employment prospects.
