Ileetha Groom has two decades of classroom experience, teaching students in kindergarten through the fifth grade in North Carolina, California, Illinois and Nevada. She also has served as a language arts consultant to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and as a literacy and instructional coach for various schools and school districts.

At the higher education level, she has been an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California, DeVry University and Kaplan College.
