Wake Tech Honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

RALEIGH, N.C. (Friday, January 18) – Wake Tech employees and students worked together today to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a special service project. Volunteers gathered on Main Campus to package 10,000 meals for distribution to schools and orphanages around the world. The project was coordinated by Stop Hunger Now, an international hunger relief organization. The service project has become an annual event for the college.

A celebration in honor of Dr. King’s birthday also took place on Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus today. Students, faculty, staff and members of the community attended the celebration, which featured music and student readings. Wake Tech employees and students will also participate in a service project at Ravenscroft High School in Raleigh on Monday, January 21. Volunteers will collect and sort food for local food banks as part of a signature community service project hosted by Wake County.
