RALEIGH, N.C. (April 11, 2024) – Three students in Wake Tech's Sigma Kappa Delta honor society for English and literature excellence attended the recent Sigma Tau Delta International Convention in St. Louis, Mo.
Jordan Adams, Natalie Fielding and Olivia Kerns represented the chapter, along with advisors Associate Professor Elena Fleggas and Assistant Professor Mary Beth Wolverton.
For Sigma Tau Delta's centennial celebration, the theme of the convention was In Flux, as English studies are always in flux, in transition, flexible, fluid and evolving. Students attended panels to reflect on the changes in higher education since 1924, as well as presentations on literature and rhetoric.
Since before European exploration, indigenous nations have used St. Louis as a crossroads and gateway to the west, giving students a unique opportunity to see a historically rich city while sharing stories and research, making new friends, meeting old friends and learning new perspectives.
