This course continues instruction for work as an Electrical Apprentice in new construction and on remodeling and renovation projects. It covers performance of load calculations for branch and feeder circuits, selecting appropriate conductors based on load calculations, practical applications of lighting, identification of hazardous locations, determining when overcurrent protection is appropriate and what measures to utilize, understanding electrical distribution equipment, the different types of transformers and their appropriate usage. Students will also develop an understanding of commercial electrical services, motor calculations and controls, and learn the electrical requirements for voice, data and video systems. Electrical Apprenticeship Level 3 is the third course in the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) curriculum for Electrical Apprenticeship.
