College Honored at 2011 Pinnacle Business Awards
RALEIGH, N.C. (May 10, 2011) - Dr. Stephen Scott, president of Wake Technical Community College, is pleased to announce that the college has been awarded the 2011 Smith Seal of NC Large Business Sustainability Award by the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. The award honors organizations that incorporate sustainability into their mission, strategy and day-to-day operations. It was presented at the 2011 Pinnacle Business Awards at the Raleigh Convention Center on Tuesday, May 3.
"This is indeed an honor, and an especially meaningful one for Wake Tech," said President Scott. "Our faculty and staff take their commitment to sustainable operations seriously - and act on it every single day. The recognition and support of the Chamber inspires us to continue our efforts to grow responsibly."
Wake Tech won the award for its broad commitment to environmental and social responsibility as demonstrated by the Northern Wake Campus, the first all-LEED certified college campus in the United States. Wake Tech was also recognized for promoting a culture that encourages students and employees to "think green." This was the latest in a series of sustainability awards the college has received.
