Wake Tech Offers New Cosmetology and Natural Hair Care Training
RALEIGH, N.C. (January 13, 2015) - People interested in cosmetology and natural hair care careers now have a streamlined, non-degree option for earning the required credentials. Wake Tech’s School of Cosmetology certification and Natural Hair Care Specialist licensure programs will be offered at the newly-opened Beltline Education Center beginning in March, and registration is now open.
The new programs are offered through Wake Tech’s Workforce Continuing Education Division and are focused solely on preparing students for the N.C. Board of Cosmetic Arts certification exam. The Natural Hair Care Specialist program meets newly-issued board requirements for training and licensure and can provide cosmetologists with a new avenue for earning continuing continuing education units (CEUs).
“These new non-degree programs give students more options,” said Anthony Caison, Wake Tech’s Vice President of Workforce Continuing Education. “They offer practical pathways to career readiness – and put students on a fast track to employment in the growing cosmetology industry.”
Pamela Little, Dean of Professional Services and Sustainability, is also enthusiastic about the new programs: “We’re excited for our students,” Little says, “and pleased that we can offer an alternative that is more flexible and more cost-effective.” Tuition at Wake Tech’s new School of Cosmetology is significantly lower than private training facilities in the Raleigh area. Daytime and evening hours are available, and the new, state-of-the-art Beltline Education Center is conveniently located at 3200 Bush Street in central Raleigh.
Registration for March classes is now open – and information sessions will take place on January 12 and 26, and February 9 and 23 at Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus, Building E, Room 260.
To register online, go to http://workforce.waketech.edu and search for “cosmetology” or “natural hair” in the Find a Class search box. For more information, contact Pam Little: [email protected] or 919-866-5805.
