Wake Tech offers Military Science (MS) courses via the Cooperating Raleigh Colleges program in support of the U.S. Army Reserve Officer Training Candidate (ROTC) program.
ROTC offers the following benefits:
There is no ROTC contractual obligation to the Army or Army ROTC for the first two years, unless on scholarship or a Simultaneous Membership Program contract, such as the National Guard or Army Reserve.
All ROTC courses and labs are conducted at North Carolina State University. Based on a bilateral agreement between the two schools, MS courses completed by Wake Tech students are transferable to N.C. State via the ROTC program. To receive credit for MS courses and to be accepted into N.C. State, transfer students must meet N.C. State entry requirements and ROTC contract requirements. Other universities with ROTC programs may also elect to award transfer credit for MS courses completed at Wake Tech. Scholarships covering tuition, fees and books are transferable, regardless of the cost of tuition.
Two-year scholarships are available on a competitive basis for students who are accepted and transfer to a four-year college or university and meet the following requirements:
MS courses are section petition restricted. Students must complete a Cooperating Raleigh Colleges form and contact the instructor for permission to take the course. Courses consist of classroom, lab and physical fitness components.
Qualified students will take part in all N.C. State Army ROTC classes and labs. Because the Army physical fitness test is administered once per semester, physical fitness training is recommended for all students.
