College Hosts Statewide Conference for HVAC Instructors
RALEIGH, N.C. (October 12, 2023) – Wake Tech hosted Brady Services' fourth-annual Community College Instructors Conference on Thursday at the Center for Building Technologies on Southern Wake Campus.
HVAC instructors from Wake Tech and community colleges across the state gathered to share best practices and explore new ideas during the day-long conference, which also featured information on accreditation and equipment updates.
Conference attendees also learned more about Wake Tech's Building Automation Technology (BAT) program, North Carolina's first associate degree program of its kind. Wake Tech instructors demonstrated the hands-on training available in the college's BAT lab, which includes a living laboratory environment, with a dedicated air handler, chiller and boiler system.
The BAT program, which is funded by a National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education grant, consists of five core courses that can be taken in conjunction with a year of HVAC courses for an Associate in Applied Science degree in Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Technologies (AHR) or as part of the Facilities Maintenance Technology program.
"Wake Tech is excited to be the host for this year's Community College Instructors Conference," said Jimmy Freeman, AHR program director. "There is a high demand for technicians in the AHR trade, and community college instructors are learning how to better prepare students for successful careers in the industry."

"Together, we are shaping the future of HVAC education and empowering instructors with the knowledge and resources they need to excel in building a strong workforce."
The annual conference is organized by Brady Services, a commercial Trane franchise and family-owned enterprise specializing in commercial building services.
