Wake Tech closed for Thanksgiving

Wake Tech is closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. Prospective students can still apply online, and current students can register for Spring semester classes. All classes will resume and offices will reopen on Monday morning.

Campus bookstores to close temporarily
Wake Tech Bookstores will be closed November 11 to December 1 while BibliU, the college's new bookstore vendor, moves in. Stores will reopen December 2, so students can purchase any Bluebooks, Scantrons, pencils, pens or other supplies for final exams. Students also will be able to return any Fall semester books provided by Eagle Advantage.

BibliU is finalizing details about how to get Spring semester books through Eagle Advantage.

Wake Tech bookstores, operated by BibliU, provide the books, electronics, supplies and other materials students need for any course. Students can also pick up Wake Tech shirts, sweats and other apparel, along with swag for their homes and cars, at the bookstores.

Check out the operating hours for each bookstore.

Eagle Advantage is Wake Tech's textbook program for students in degree programs, excluding Career & College Promise (CCP) and Cooperative Innovative High School (Early College) students. The program ensures all required printed textbooks are bundled and ready for pickup or delivery on or before the first day of class and any digital course materials are available in Blackboard on the first day – saving you time and ensuring you're ready to learn on Day One.

Simply follow these steps to participate in Eagle Advantage:

  1. Apply to Wake Tech
  2. Register for classes
Upon registering, you are automatically enrolled in Eagle Advantage, and your Wake Tech account is charged $24 per credit hour as a Textbook Access Fee.
  3. Verify your order
    – Use the "Verify Order / Opt Out-Opt In" button to view the materials provided by Eagle Advantage.
    – If you choose to opt out of the program and purchase course materials on your own, you must do so within a specified window each semester. Your opt-out decision covers all courses for that semester.
  4. Select your delivery method for printed materials
    – Use the "Select Delivery Method" button and add "Eagle Advantage Delivery" to your cart.
    – You must make a delivery selection to get your printed course materials and access codes to digital materials.
NOTE: Any decision to opt out must be made before selecting a delivery method. If you select to receive printed materials through Eagle Advantage, you remain in the program and must pay the Textbook Access Fee.
  5. Get your books.
An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pick-up or when it ships. Digital materials will automatically be delivered within Blackboard unless a physical access code is needed.

Students can opt out of the program and purchase books independently if they wish during the opt-out window, and anyone who has opted out can opt back in during that same time frame. The opt-out window for the Spring 2025 semester opens December 6, 2024, and the closing date is determined by your course schedule and shown in the "Verify Order / Opt Out-Opt In" link.

Frequently asked questions

Eagle Advantage is a program designed to ensure students have access to all their required printed textbooks and digital course materials by the first day of class. Students are charged a $24-per-credit-hour Textbook Access Fee for the program, which is added to their tuition bill.

Required printed textbooks are conveniently packaged and provided to students, and required digital course materials are delivered directly through Blackboard. At the end of the semester, students can keep any printed materials received through the program unless it has a label stating that it's a rental copy and needs to returned to a Wake Tech bookstore.

Recommended textbooks, consumable items that cannot be returned and reused – lab goggles, dissection kits, nursing kits, etc. – and course kits are not included in Eagle Advantage and are the responsibility of the student if he or she wishes to purchase them.

All students in degree programs are automatically enrolled in Eagle Advantage when they register for classes.

Non-degree students, students in the CCP program and students attending any of Wake County's Early College high schools are not eligible for Eagle Advantage.

Students are able to opt out of the program each semester if they choose not to participate, as long as the opt-out occurs during the specified window for that semester. Any student who has previously opted out can opt back into the program, as long as that occurs on or before the last day of that same window.

The opt-out window for the Spring 2025 semester opens December 6, 2024, and the closing date is determined by your course schedule and shown in the "Verify Order / Opt Out-Opt In" link.

There may be a situation where the Textbook Access Fee for Eagle Advantage exceeds the retail amount for your books or does not benefit you in a given semester. For example, maybe one or more of your courses is utilizing no-cost materials or no materials at all. In this case, it might be a good idea to opt out for that semester.

We encourage you to visit the Wake Tech Campus Store website to search for and review the costs of your required materials as compared to the Textbook Access Fee that you are charged before making your opt-out decision. Remember to do your research every semester!

The opt-out window for the Spring 2025 semester opens December 6, 2024, and the closing date is determined by your course schedule and shown in the "Verify Order / Opt Out-Opt In" link.

We recommend that you verify what items are being provided in the program so you know if there are any printed items that will need to be picked up from a Wake Tech bookstore. Also, this will let you know if there are any courses that have no text required so you can make an informed opt-out decision.

If any printed materials are provided through Eagle Advantage, you must select how you want to receive those materials, either pick them up from a Wake Tech bookstore or delivered to your home.

If you have already received your printed materials and you drop a class, you must return any books for that course to a Wake Tech bookstore within 48 hours.

If you drop a class and add a different class, you will need to select how to receive the printed items for the added class. Digital materials for the added class will automatically be available in Blackboard.

Printed materials provided as part of the Eagle Advantage program are yours to keep unless one of the following occurs:

  • The book has a label stating the copy you have received is a rental copy and needs to returned to a Wake Tech bookstore
  • You drop a class before the last day to drop with a 75% refund. The books need to be returned to a Wake Tech bookstore with 48 hours.
  • You withdraw from a class. You are still responsible for the Eagle Advantage fees and, therefore, can keep any books associated with that class, unless the book has a label on it stating that it's a rental copy and needs to returned to a Wake Tech bookstore.

No. This program involves the coordination of various publishers and distribution networks, so Wake Tech must follow the policies that have been agreed to by all parties.

Contact a Wake Tech bookstore if you have any questions.

Students in the CCP program and those who attend one of the Early College high schools are not eligible for Eagle Advantage. These students can contact a Wake Tech bookstore directly to purchase their course materials.
