Child Care Grant

Child care assistance is available for students enrolled at least half-time (six credit hours) in a financial-aid-approved program of study at Wake Tech. Child care grants are limited and are based on financial need. To be considered for the Child Care Grant, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Be a North Carolina resident
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Complete the Wake Tech Child Care Grant application (available in early August)
  • Have at least one child in need of child care assistance
  • Meet all financial aid eligibility requirements

Priority is given to returning, single, low-income students who are not receiving child care assistance from another source. The priority deadline for applications is September 1 each academic year.

Failure to comply with the Child Care Grant Agreement will lead to termination from this financial aid fund.

Please note the following:

  • You are responsible for any child care charges for your child or children at all times.
  • The Child Care Grant, if received, may not cover all child care charges, so check your financial aid offer on Self-service.
  • The grant does not cover provider fees, registration costs or late fees.

Applications will be reviewed as soon as state officials notify Wake Tech of the allocated funds. Once your application is reviewed, you will receive a notification through your Wake Tech email regarding your status, which will be either Approved, Waitlist or Denied.

If your application is approved, you will need to set up a meeting with the Financial Aid Office specialist for child care. During this meeting, you will be guided through the complete requirements and process for the grant.

Don't miss this opportunity to receive financial support for child care. Keep an eye on your Wake Tech email for updates, and contact the Financial Aid Office if you have questions.
