Dental Terminology

This dental terminology course introduces dental terminology as it relates to procedures and services, techniques, materials, and dental diagnoses. Students will gain an understanding of dental vocabulary, abbreviations, symbols, word building, and pronunciation by defining, interpreting and listening to dental terms while reviewing the function, pathology, clinical procedures, and pharmacology of the oral cavity.

Course Objectives

• Write, listen, and comprehend terminology related to the oral cavity and dental services
• Identify and label the structures within the oral cavity
• Differentiate between services provided by different dental specialties and the diagnoses that they treat
• Explain pain management protocol and pharmacology associated with specific diagnoses
