Masonry I

This course gives opportunity to develop the basic skills of a mason and is designed as an introduction to the trade. Individuals will learn to lay building materials such as: brick, concrete block, pavers, construct or repair walls, and other structures. Students will use trowels, levels, hammers, chisels, masonry saws, mixers and other necessary hand or power tools of the trade.

Course Objectives

develop knowledge of masonry material
knowledge of laying techniques
knowledge of moisture barriers
knowledge of inspections and quality control
installation of vertical reinforcement
knowledge of different types of joints, reinforcement and ties
Must pass assessments provided by instructor
