Description
This introductory course focuses on swimming pool and spa operations, based on Pool and Tub Alliance (PHTA) recommendations. It covers water circulation, contamination, disinfection, and balance, along with essential calculations. The course also includes filtration, heating and air circulation, chemical testing and control, maintenance systems, regulations and guidelines, safety, and more.
Course Objectives
  1. Upon successful completion of the course students will be certified to operate a swimming pool and/or spa in accordance with National requirements. Additional local or state certifications may be required.
Outline of Instruction
  1. Pool and Spa Management,Water Contamination,Water Disinfection,Water Balance,Local/State Regulations and Guidelines,Essential Calculations, Chemical Testing,Chemical Feed and Control,Water Circulation
  2. Pool and Spa Filtration,Heating and Air Circulation,Span and Therapy Operations, Facility Safety, Keeping Records, Maintenance Systems,Troubleshooting, and facility renovation/design. Review before exams.

Text and Supplies Needed
Battery Powered Calculator, Pen/Pencil, Highlighter, notepad, photo id. All other books and supplies are provided. A $45 money order for Cashier's check made payable to the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance ( PHTA) for the certification fee. This payment is due on the second day of class from each student that passes the test.
