RALEIGH, N.C. (August 19, 2025) – Three community leaders and Wake Tech's student body president are the newest members of the college's Board of Trustees.

Kenyatta Elliott, Temple Sloan and Jen Willis were sworn in at Tuesday's board meeting and will serve four-year terms. Student Government Association (SGA) President Daniela "Dani" Rebong, who is studying Mechanical Engineering Technology, is an ex-officio member of the board for 2025-26 and also took her oath of office.

Elliott is an experienced health care administrator, currently serving as associate vice president at Duke University Health System. She was appointed by the Wake County Board of Commissioners. Prior to Duke, Elliott was an assistant administrator at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She earned a bachelor of science degree from North Carolina Central University and a master's degree in Health Care Administration/Management from the University of Maryland.

Sloan, appointed by the North Carolina House of Representatives, serves as president and chief executive of Trail Creek Investments, headquartered in Raleigh. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Sloan served as a Navy SEAL and completed deployments to both Iraq and Somalia. He continues to serve in the Navy Reserve.

Willis, appointed by the North Carolina Senate, joins the Wake Tech board with a distinguished career in higher education and public policy spanning nearly three decades. A former director of government relations for the North Carolina Community College System, Willis also served as associate dean for advancement at the UNC School of Government and held key positions in Wake County government and the North Carolina General Assembly before she retired. She has a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree in Public Administration from North Carolina State University.

Dr. Saundra Williams was also elected chair of the board, and Walter Davenport was elected vice chair. Each will serve a one-year term.

The college also recognized three retiring trustees for their service: Linda Coleman, Dr. Juan Torres and Kellie Falk. Coleman, a former state representative and Wake Tech Foundation board member, has served as a Wake Tech trustee since 2009. Torres, a professor and dean of engineering at N.C. State, joined the Wake Tech board in 2020. Falk, principal and managing director of Drucker + Falk, was appointed as a Wake Tech trustee in 2017 and served as vice chair before being elected chair in 2024.

In accordance with state law, four of Wake Tech's 12 trustees are appointed by the state House of Representatives and four by the state Senate, with two appointed annually. The remaining four trustees are selected by the Wake County Board of Commissioners. The SGA president serves a one-year term and is encouraged to share ideas and concerns but does not vote on board issues.

Trustees establish policy for Wake Tech, approve the annual budget, and serve as advocates for the college and its services.
