College Earns National Recognition as Top Military-Friendly School

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 17, 2025) – Wake Tech's dedication to supporting military service members and veterans has earned it the prestigious 2025-26 Military Friendly® Gold designation.

More than 1,800 schools participated in a survey by Viqtory, which connects the military community to civilian employment and educational and entrepreneurial opportunities. Viqtory sets the award criteria, with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community, and 830 schools were honored.

Final ratings were determined by assessing each college's ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, degree advancement or transfer, and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

"Wake Tech is honored to reach and rally around our student veterans and military-connected families," said Scarlet Edwards, associate vice president for Military, Veteran & Special Programs.

The 2025-26 Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in the May and October issues of G.I. Jobs magazine. The list can also be found at www.militaryfriendly.com.

Wake Tech currently has 775 student veterans. Sixty-four of them will graduate in May.

The college provides a variety of services for veterans and their family members pursuing education, training and professional development:

  • Assistance with VA education benefits
  • Options for translating military experience into workplace credentials
  • Customized advising
  • Wraparound support
