Dr. Angela Washington is New Dean of Health Sciences
RALEIGH, N.C. (September 10, 2020) – Wake Tech is pleased to announce that Dr. Angela Washington is the college’s new Dean of Health Sciences.
In this role, Washington is responsible for providing oversight and leadership of the Health Sciences Division, which includes associate degree, diploma and certificate programs in 18 different health sciences career areas.
Washington has 20 years of experience at Wake Tech, most recently serving as the department head of imaging programs and prior to that as a CT and MRI instructor and clinical coordinator at the college. She received Wake Tech’s 2011 Excellence in Teaching Award.
Washington has also worked as a CT and MRI technologist in various capacities for the past 25 years. She has also served on various professional committees with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) during her career.
“I am honored to be selected for this important role on the Perry Health Sciences Campus,” Washington said. “I look forward to serving our innovative health sciences programs that educate the future health sciences professionals.”
Washington earned her doctorate in education from Capella University and her master’s and bachelor’s of science in radiologic science from Midwestern State University. She also holds an associate in applied science degree in radiologic technology from the Community College of the Air Force.
Wake Tech continues to add new programs that lead to challenging and rewarding careers in healthcare, the most recent of which are associate in applied science degrees in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology (EDT) and Medical Sonography and a certificate in Mammography.
