Wake Tech closed for Thanksgiving

Wake Tech is closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. Prospective students can still apply online, and current students can register for Spring semester classes. All classes will resume and offices will reopen on Monday morning.

Instructor Creates A "Buzz" At Wake Tech

Dr. Steve Prescott Shaves Head for a Good Cause

RALEIGH, N.C. (February 22, 2011) - Wake Tech Business Law Instructor Dr. Steve Prescott went bald today for a good cause! Students, faculty and staff watched as Cosmetology and Esthetics Instructor Angela Barbour shaved Prescott's head to raise money and awareness for research in childhood cancers. "Be Brave and Shave" benefits the cancer programs at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Prescott decide to participate after visiting with children being treated for cancer. "After I toured the hospital in Washington, I knew I wanted to help." Prescott says.

"Be Brave and Shave" is a signature event of Heroes Against Childhood Cancer, a volunteer-driven organization. All monies raised will go to the McKnew Endowment Fund at Children's National Medical Center, and are used to hire staff and support unbudgeted research initiatives.

Dr. Prescott has been an instructor of Business Law at Wake Technical Community College since 2005. He is an officer of the Wake Tech Faculty Senate, as well as Vice President of External Affairs for the North Carolina Community College Faculty Association. Before coming to Wake Tech, Dr. Prescott served as a judicial law clerk at the North Carolina Supreme Court.
