Wake Tech Holds Annual Open House

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 9, 2013) – Hundreds of prospective students, high school seniors and many others, visited Wake Tech’s Main Campus today for the college’s annual Open House. The event took place in the Student Services Building Conference Center and provided opportunities for high school students and their families, as well as adults seeking new skills and new career options, to learn more about the programs and resources Wake Tech offers. Admissions advisors, career counselors, and staff and faculty from all Wake Tech departments and campuses were on hand to talk with visitors. They toured the campus to locate student services, including the registrar’s office and financial aid, and learned about college transfer options and Wake Tech’s athletics programs and other student activities. They dropped by the campus cafeteria and coffee shop and learned about “Flavors,” the restaurant operated by the culinary arts department.

Financial literacy workshops were also offered at the Open House event. The workshops are part of a comprehensive financial literacy initiative, the Center for Financial Education, which offers money management programs for students, employees and members of the community. Those who attended were entered into a drawing to win a free iPad mini.

A second Open House will take place at Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus on Saturday, April 13.

Wake Tech Community College is celebrating its 50th anniversary, now serving more than 66,000 students annually with five campuses, two training centers, and a growing number of online learning options. Prospective students learned about Wake Tech curriculum programs in health sciences, culinary arts, cosmetology, business, computers, engineering, and applied technologies (trades).
