Wake Tech Hosts “Artsfusion”

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 28, 2015) - Hundreds of people got a taste of the arts today at Wake Tech Community College! The college hosted Artsfusion, a showcase of student talent in creative writing, visual arts, culinary arts, and music. The event, held on Main Campus, included painting, sculpture, and pastry creations.

There was also competition, as culinary students and professional chefs matched skills in a contest sanctioned by the American Culinary Federation (ACF). There were 57 student entries and nine entries from professionals. Students won three gold medals, 13 silver, and 24 bronze. Former Wake Tech baking instructor Kelly Bellmore won gold and Best in Show for the highest score; the judges awarded her a near-perfect score for her “Run for the Roses” cake.

Culinary students also sold bread and other tasty treats at “Baker’s Row,” with proceeds going to the Wake Tech Foundation Culinary Arts Fund.

Artsfusion began in 2014 when Wake Tech’s Fine Arts and Culinary programs teamed up to highlight students’ talent and expertise in creative arts.
