Open House Saturday at New Wake Tech East

WENDELL, N.C. (June 24, 2024) – Wake Tech is hosting a special inaugural Open House at Wake Tech East, the college's newest location in Wendell, on Saturday.

Conveniently located off Interstate 87, Wake Tech East will serve its first students this fall with the following degree programs:

  • Associate in Arts
  • Associate in Science
  • Associate in Engineering
  • Emergency Medical Science Associate in Applied Science

Prospective students and their families can get a close-up look at the state-of-the art smart classrooms and labs, learn more about academic programs and support services and speak to Admissions and Financial Aid staff. Students can apply for fall enrollment at the event and get assistance completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).

The Open House takes place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Education and Innovation Center, Building C, the hub for academic programs, admissions, support resources and student activities.

A week ago, Wake Tech broke ground on the next academic building at Wake Tech East, the three-story, $60 million Advanced Technology Center. The center will house the college's Biopharmaceutical Technology degree program, offering a real-life simulated biopharma work environment, and a Systems Integration Lab, with robotics, mechatronics and advanced manufacturing equipment supporting Industry 4.0 technologies. It will be finished at the end of 2025 and open for the Spring 2026 semester. East Carolina University will be co-located in that building, offering its Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology degree for Wake Tech graduates who would like to continue their education.

Wake Tech East is also home to a unique Public Safety Simulation Complex, featuring a 4D immersive streetscape for training first responders from Wake County and beyond. It is the state's most realistic simulated village for force-on-force training, with EMS ambulance bays and a driver training track that supports emergency vehicle and pursuit training.
