RALEIGH, N.C. (June 12, 2024) – Wake Tech on Tuesday welcomed nearly 400 job seekers interested in teaching at North Carolina's largest community college.
The college held its second annual Job Fair, where hiring managers met with candidates, reviewed resumes and conducted initial interviews. Computers were on site for job seekers to apply for employment and upload resumes for consideration for future vacancies.
Held at the Southern Wake Campus, the event drew potential candidates for adjunct (part-time) teaching positions in a variety of academic programs and departments.
David Liu said he gained valuable feedback about how to strengthen his qualifications for Accounting and Finance instructor opportunities.
"It's very organized and welcoming," Liu said of the event. "Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable and gave me great pointers and advice for things I can work on."
Kacie Royston came to the event last year and landed a job as a technical assistant in the College and Career Readiness program. At Tuesday's event, she was eager to share how the Job Fair opened doors for her as a new resident to the Raleigh area from Nashville, Tenn.
"This job fair gave me insight into what Wake Tech does for the community," Royston said. "I got to meet representatives from several different departments to try to figure out which one would be the best fit for me. It really was the job fair that ultimately helped me be more comfortable in my interview and led to me having a successful job here at Wake Tech, and it's been wonderful so far."
Wake Tech needs part-time faculty in numerous program areas, such as math, science and liberal arts, including English, communications, fine arts and foreign languages. The college is also recruiting adjunct faculty for criminal justice and public safety programs, engineering, skilled trades, business administration, accounting, early childhood education, transportation and heavy equipment technology, information technology and health sciences. There are also openings in non-degree areas, such as English as a Second Language and adult basic education.
