College Welcomes New Provost
RALEIGH, N.C. (May 2, 2024) - Wake Tech is pleased to announce that Dr. Dimitria Harding has been selected to serve as the new Provost of the Perry Health Sciences Campus.
In her new role, Harding will be responsible for leading seamless collaboration between the Health Sciences and Nursing divisions, as well as managing all operations at the Perry Health Sciences Campus, which is about to undergo a major expansion.
Harding has more than 23 years of experience in higher education and the health care industry. She worked as a cytologist for 15 years, examining cells for the presence of cancer and other diseases. Harding has held several academic positions throughout the country, including dean of Health Sciences and Career and Technical Education, academic dean and senior academic officer, and Allied Health Program director and practicum coordinator. She also has extensive teaching experience, serving as an instructor and assistant professor in medical administration, medical assisting and health services administration.
Harding is committed to health care and higher education, especially for underserved and minority populations, and works toward creating pathways to success and eliminating equity gaps. During her tenure, she has created several health care pathways with high schools and four-year higher education partners, including AAS to BS and dual enrollment and dual credit.
Harding describes herself as a servant leader who believes in putting others first, creating a vision and leading ethically, with humility, grace and self-awareness.
"I look forward to leading the Perry Health Sciences Campus, overseeing the academic vitality of our programs and collaborating closely with the academic deans, staff and the broader Wake Tech community," she said. "Together, we will strive to enhance our educational offerings, ensuring they continue to meet the high standards of our accreditors and respond effectively to the needs of the health care industry. I look forward to working together to make a significant and positive impact on the lives of our students and the health of our community."
Harding holds a doctorate in Business Administration, an Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership, an MS in Community Health and a BS in Health Sciences. She is also working to complete her doctorate in Health Administration. She has earned diplomas in Pharmacy Technology, Dental Assisting and Medical Billing and Coding. She is a certified cytotechnologist, clinical medical assistant, administrative medical assistant, electronic health records specialist and billing and coding specialist.
She will begin her new role on July 1.
