College Celebrates Newest Honor Society

RALEIGH, N.C. (October 26, 2022) – Wake Tech is celebrating the first students inducted in Sigma Kappa Delta, a national honor society for English and literature excellence at two-year colleges.

An induction ceremony was held at Scott Northern Wake Campus on October 19 for the college's newest honor society. Founded in 1996, Sigma Kappa Delta has more than 100 active chapters in the United States, with approximately 2,500 members inducted annually.

Criteria for membership include completion of a minimum of one English language or literature course, completion of 12 hours of college course work, a grade of "B" or higher in English and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.

Elena Fleggas, associate professor of English, and Alexandra Doria, English instructor, are co-advisors of the Wake Tech chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta.

In addition to Sigma Kappa Delta, Wake Tech is the home of several student leadership organizations, including Sigma Alpha Pi, Phi Theta Kappa and Future Business Leaders of America.
