Open House Showcases Programs and Resources

RALEIGH, N.C. (October 15, 2022) – Wake Tech welcomed more than 400 prospective students and their families at the annual fall Open House on Saturday, October 15.

Faculty and staff shared information on academic programs and enrollment and support resources, while student ambassadors gave attendees a walking tour of Southern Wake Campus and shared their firsthand experiences. Families got to see classrooms and state-of-the-art labs for technical programs, as well as the gym, where the Academic and Resource Fair was set up to showcase a variety of degree options. The Open House offered information sessions on financial aid, career services and on-the-spot admissions support.

Jalen Windley, a senior at Middle Creek High School, said he enjoyed touring campus with his parents and learning more about Wake Tech's IT programs.

"I'm here because I'm interested in technology and coding," Windley said. "I really like what I see here on campus, and I'm glad I came today."

New students can apply for admission at apply.waketech.edu. Once admitted, they can register for Spring semester classes beginning November 14.

The college is also offering an opportunity to learn about non-degree, fast-track training during Workforce Wednesday, a virtual information session on October 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. Sign up to join at workforce.waketech.edu.

Wake Tech is North Carolina's largest community college, serving about 63,000 adults annually, with six campuses – a seventh is under construction – two training centers, multiple community sites and a comprehensive array of online learning options. All Wake Tech programs, even those traditionally designed to prepare students for immediate employment, offer opportunities to transfer to a university for further study.
