College Hosts Bakers’ Row

Students Showcase Baking Skills with Homemade Treats

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 5, 2022) – Wake Tech students in Baking & Pastry Arts showcased their baking skills today at the Scott Northern Wake Campus. Students sold their original desserts, pastries and treats at the popular Bakers’ Row event. Some customers ordered goodies in advance and picked them up; others purchased treats in person.

Students made the baked goodies entirely from scratch. They sold everything from savory ham-and-cheese quiche and focaccia bread to coffee cake, cookies and scones.

"I am so proud of our students," said Chef Caralyn House, Baking and Pastry Arts senior professor and program director. "Their creativity and menu planning always impresses me."

Bakers’ Row is an end-of-year project for students in the Baking & Pastry Arts associate degree program, which prepares aspiring bakers for entry into the industry as pastry chefs, cake designers and bakery managers.
